1. Disconnect inside CommentCare.

Open Settings, locate the connected TikTok account and choose Disconnect. This stops that connection and deletes its stored tokens, imported videos, comments and moderation history from the active CommentCare database. A scan finishing at the same moment may require you to try again shortly.

Your CommentCare login and account-level usage records remain. Disconnecting does not delete your TikTok account, delete original comments on TikTok or restore previously hidden comments. Review any restoration requests before disconnecting.

2. Remove permission inside TikTok.

In TikTok, open the account security settings, find connected apps or app permissions, and remove Stillkind (the TikTok app name used by CommentCare). Labels vary between app versions. CommentCare’s Disconnect action removes our stored connection but does not itself call TikTok’s authorization-revocation endpoint.

Revoking only inside TikTok prevents future authorized access but does not itself erase the records already held by CommentCare. Use Disconnect or request deletion as well.

3. Delete your CommentCare account.

Open Settings → Your privacy & data → Delete account. Password accounts require the current password; social sign-in accounts require a fresh sign-in within 10 minutes. Type DELETE to confirm. This deletes your active account, sessions, identities, connections, videos, comments, usage records and agreement records. Export first if you need a copy. If billing records exist with a payment provider, contact us so we can handle subscription closure and any statutory retention correctly. You can also email hello@commentcare.app with the subject “CommentCare data deletion” for help or a partial deletion request.

The request covers eligible login, session, connection, comment, video, moderation and account-level usage records. We may need proportionate ownership verification. Never send passwords, access tokens or identity documents unless a specific, justified verification method has first been agreed.

4. Requests from commenters.

You do not need a CommentCare account. Send the creator username, video link and enough information to identify the relevant comment. Where the creator determines the processing, we help them handle your request. To remove the original TikTok comment itself, use TikTok’s controls or contact the creator.

5. Timing, exceptions and confirmation.

We respond without undue delay, normally within one month under the GDPR. If a legally permitted extension is needed, we explain why within the first month. We confirm the action taken or explain a lawful reason for retaining particular records and how to challenge that decision.

Deletion from the active database is different from deletion from operational logs, provider systems and backup copies. Backup expiry is not yet covered by a uniform verified schedule. We check those copies when processing a request and explain any remaining retention. Data required for a legal obligation or a specific dispute is restricted to that purpose.

A deletion request does not remove your rights to access, correction or restriction.
